Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

In the fourth and final part of our church history series, we will look at how the church has changed and developed from the period immediately after the Reformation (c. 1650) with the Puritans until today. From this point, the church was no longer a unified authoritative institution that enveloped all aspects of European life, but rather moved towards diversity, globalisation, and a continuous process of interaction and collision with modern society. Studying this period will help us understand the effects of the enlightenment and theological liberalism on the church, the modern missionary movement, the charismatic movement, and how we got to the broader evangelical context we are in today.

You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1 Pet 1:16). God calls His children to live lives of loving obedience to Him, to delight in the goodness and beauty of God’s moral standards which show the infinitely good moral character of God Himself. In a world that increasingly rejects Christian moral values there is an urgent need for the church to maintain and grow our understanding of biblical ethics. This class covers a broad range of ethical issues, seeking to provide answers and biblical wisdom to areas that appear ‘grey’. You will be equipped and encouraged to live this out in your daily life, that you may “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him; bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Col 1:10). The topics we will be exploring this term are health, suicide, alcohol and drugs, divorce and remarriage, birth control, pornography, homosexuality and financial and environmental stewardship.
