Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

On Sunday, 10 November Pastor Craig Baxter delivered 'Blessed to be a Blessing' from Psalms 67.
The Psalmist asks for God's grace, blessing and favour to be upon His people, so the surrounding nations would know they served the one true God of Heaven and come to know Him themselves. The author found joy in the fact that God judged the earth with equity and governed the nations. Also, he was reassured that in the end God would bring about a harvest of souls through the blessings flowing from Him, through His people, to the nations. In this lesson we learn that our gladness in God is the intended fuel to make us an outward-orientated, missional people, for the gladness of the nations.
Prayer 1: We would RECEIVE God’s blessings so the world would RECEIVE God’s salvation (vv. 1-2)
Prayer 2: Through us the nations would REJOICE in God’s rule (vv. 3-5)
Prayer 3: In our missional endeavours we would REST in God’s promises (vv. 6-7)

Much can go wrong inside a family – and much often does! As parents, we fail in many ways to love, teach and discipline our children. Children fail in many ways to love, obey and honour their parents. These failings can lead to much heartache, conflict and discouragement for the whole family. But our heavenly Father paints us a beautiful picture in His Word of what a Godly family looks like. And He gives us His Holy Spirit to transform us and our families towards that picture, as we seek to honour Him. Jesus Christ came to show us His Father and His perfect love for His children.
Parents and future parents, this class is for you. Come and admire our Father’s portrait of a Godly family and be equipped to imitate that portrait in your family. Topics will include God’s purpose for the family, worship, the heart, obedience, discipline, gender roles and technology.

Lesson 5: Who is God? (3rd November)

Monday Nov 04, 2024

On Sunday, 3 November Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'The Folly of Wordly Attachment' from Genesis 19:1-38.
When the Lord destroyed the cities of the plain with fire and brimstone, he delivered Lot by means of two angels who had to protect themselves from the wicked people of the city, drag the reluctant Lot from the doomed place, and agree to allow him to take refuge in a little town that would be spared from judgement. The curtain of Lot’s life closes as he finds protection in a cave in the mountains, which subsequently proved to be the birthplace of the wicked ancestors of the Moabites and Ammonites. In this study we learn that it is foolish to become attached to this present corrupt world because it awaits God’s judgement and will corrupt your life and threaten your future
The world is utterly corrupt and destined for destruction (vv. 1-14)
Worldly attachment will corrupt your life (vv. 15-29)
Worldly attachment will threaten your future (vv. 30-38)

Lesson 4: What is the problem with my child? (27th October)

Monday Oct 28, 2024

On Sunday, 27 October Pastor Craig Baxter delivered 'The Joy of Giving' from 2 Corinthians 9:6-15.
In 2 Corinthians chapters 8 and 9 Paul is writing to encourage the Corinthian church in their giving to the needs of the church in Jerusalem. They had started out with great zeal (9:2) and desire (8:10) to participate in the collection, but following through on their goals may have been proving difficult. In this study we learn important lessons regarding Christian generosity, especially in the area of personal, financial giving, to meet the needs of Christ’s church. In this study we learn that generous, joy-filled giving to God’s work is evidence of authentic faith and brings God’s blessing for the giver and thanks and glory to God from the recipient.
The Motivation for Joyful Giving
The Attitude of Joyful Giving (vv. 6-7)
The Blessings of Joyful Giving (vv. 8-15)
