Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

Last year I had the privilege to teach a class about David, one of the most prominent Old Testament characters. In this class we'll look at another one, even more prominent than David, Moses. Like David, Moses is well known in today's culture, people will know the basics of the story, whether by the Prince of Egypt, Charlton Heston's the Ten Commandments or from Sunday School growing up. But what may be missing in their understanding is how Moses foreshadows a greater Prince, a greater Shepherd and the greatest Deliverer. In this class we'll look at some of the key events in Moses' life and in a similar way to my last class, we'll be looking at what these events mean, what we can learn and how each of them connect to Christ and the gospel. We invite visitors to join us at our Wantirna, Victoria location for our services each Sunday at 8:30am and 11am. How do we grow in our faith as Christians? Paul instructs his young apprentice Timothy to “train” or discipline himself “for godliness” (1 Tim 4:7). The modern concept of “let go and let God” is foreign to the New Testament authors and must be foreign to us also. Yet, at times, we may experience dryness and fruitlessness in practices such as Bible reading, prayer, or family worship. This class aims to restore joy to our pursuit of godliness by showing how key spiritual disciplines form part of an intimate and vibrant relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ—who is the source of all spiritual growth. We will explore disciplines such as prayer, meditation on scripture, family devotions, fellowship, confession, stewardship, and more. Come and participate in this interactive EQUIP class as we learn to grow in godliness together! We invite visitors to join us at our Wantirna, Victoria location for our services each Sunday at 8:30am and 11am. How does the gospel relate to the work you do every day of the week? Work is a fundamental part of our lives, but for some of us, it can feel like a burden, a source of stress, or something that’s unspiritual. For others, overworking is a constant temptation, and there never seems to be enough time. For either group, it's easy to forget the role work plays in God’s plan for the universe. Work is part of God’s story, and the gospel transforms our work. Through Jesus Christ, we need to learn to see our daily tasks as part of God's redemptive plan, where our work can be a way to worship God and love others. In this class, we’ll explore how the gospel shapes our understanding of work. Topics will include a biblical theology of work, as well as practical matters like gospel motivations for work, balancing work and rest, and how to think about evangelism in the workplace.

When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus answered that we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind, and love our neighbours as ourselves. As Christians, we are called to live in community with one another, reflecting Christ’s love and generosity. Yet developing authentic, Gospel-centred relationships where we can grow in faith, share our burdens and encourage each other in the truth can be a challenge. So what does it mean to love our neighbour as ourselves? Come along as we explore the heart of biblical hospitality and discover how to live out the Gospel in our relationships with others - but you won’t need a big house, an extroverted personality, lots of free time, or culinary expertise! Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with Christ for years, join us as we uncover practical tools and spiritual insights to deepen your relationships, grow in spiritual maturity and experience the transformative power of God’s love in fellowship.
