Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

Faith is the Victory | Genesis 14:1-24
When powerful eastern kings swept through the land, destroying and plundering the cities of the Jordan and taking Lot captive, Abram and his allies pursued and defeated the invaders in a surprise night attack, rescuing Lot and the possessions. Upon return when Abram was blessed by the king of Salem, Melchizedek, he was also offered riches by the king of Sodom. However, Abram rejected such an offer and swore that he would take nothing from the king of Sodom, lest the blessing be tarnished. In this lesson we learn that since we have God’s precious promises in Christ we remain unstained, prepared and discerning as we engage the enemy with faith and courage.
Remain unstained (vv. 1-12)
Remain prepared (vv. 13-16)
Remain discerning (vv. 17-24)

“The most portentous [significant] fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.” ~ A.W. Tozer. What the individual or nation thinks about God shapes everything about them. So what do YOU think of God? Beyond doctrines, what do you, in your deep heart, conceive God to be like? Many struggle with His seemingly severe rule over man, especially as seen in the Old Testament. In this class, we’ll study God’s Old Testament kingly rule over the nations by means of His laws, judgements, dealings with and expectations of His people and the nations. Our hope is that as we explore the character of God through His rule, you will love and long for the past, present and future kingly rule of God.

Lesson 1: The King and Sin (28 July 2024)

Monday Aug 05, 2024

We live in a world where dating too often begins with a split-second decision and is geared toward a casual relationship with no clear goal in mind. As a result, single people can feel discouraged, used or unworthy of true love and affection. This can lead to a sense of loneliness and despair, leaving the person spiritually and physically vulnerable. There must be a better way. And there is. For the Lord who made male and female, along with marriage, gives wisdom from His Word for singles, and those who influence them, whether they be friends or family.  This wisdom enables them to navigate their way through the dating minefield in a way that protects purity, honours God and leads to discerning His perfect will. Who should attend this class? This class is for everyone: singles, their friends and parents to help guide their children in the second most important question they will face.

Lesson 2: Stages of a Relationship (4 August 2024)

Faith amidst Conflict | Genesis 13:5-18
After Abram returns to the land of promise, to the place where his altar to the Lord was first built, (from his lapse in Egypt) strife breaks out between his herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot. In order to settle the dispute and maintain unity in the family, Abram magnanimously gives Lot his choice of the best land, which is inhabited by wicked sinners. In return Abram receives the reaffirmation of God’s promise and once again builds an altar in worship and thanksgiving. From this message we learn that faith in God’s promises elicits God’s power to relinquish your rights and to free you from the lure of the world.
Abram’s faith is tested (vv. 5-7)
Abram’s faith is magnanimous (vv. 8-13)
Abram’s faith is rewarded (vv. 14-18)

Lesson 1: Setting the Aim (28 July 2024)

Monday Jul 29, 2024

When Your Faith Fails | Genesis 12:10-13:4
After Abram showed extraordinary faith and obeyed God by leaving his country, people and family and travelling to the pagan land of Canaan where he worshipped God, his faith is tested again through a famine. When Abram traveled to Egypt to avoid the famine and passed his wife off as his sister, fearing that otherwise the Egyptians would kill him for her, he jeopardised the promise of blessing by losing his wife to Pharaoh, but the Lord intervened with plagues to deliver him and Sarai from Egypt. In this lesson we learn that when your faith fails, God remains faithful and calls you back to faith and to fulfill His purpose.
At times your faith will be tested (12:10)
When your faith fails it always leads to loss (12:11-16)
When your faith fails God remains faithful (12:17-20)
When your faith fails respond in repentance and worship (13:1-4)

The Audacity of True Faith | Genesis 12:1-9
Abram obeyed the commandment of the Lord to forsake his homeland, his people and his family for the promise of a new land, a new nation, and personal greatness, by journeying to the land of Canaan. There, having received the blessings of God, Abram was to be a blessing to others by making proclamation of his new-found faith through worship. These promises made to Abram would have a lasting impact on the world as they would be fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, his promised seed. In this lesson we learn that those who truly believe the Word of the Lord will forsake everything to become worshippers of the Lord and to serve His purposes to bring blessing to the world.
True faith is a call to sacrifice and blessing (vv. 1-3)
True faith joyfully obeys God’s Word (vv. 4-5)
True faith boldly proclaims God’s goodness (vv. 6-9)

The Potentate of Time | Genesis 11:10-32
Despite the whole earth rebelling against God in the building of the Tower of Babel and God’s subsequent judgement (Gen 11:1-9), God’s plan to bring about the promised seed who will overthrow the devil and bring His grace to mankind, through the Messiah, continues to be fulfilled through the line of Shem. Despite human rebellion and depravity, God will ensure His plan is accomplished as He dispenses grace upon certain individuals. In this lesson we learn that knowing that God rules over history to accomplish His redemptive plan should make us humble and give us hope and peace.
God’s plan marches on (vv. 10-26)
God rescues from depravity (vv. 27-30)
God ensures His plan will be fulfilled (vv. 31-32)
