Hills Bible Church
We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

On Sunday, 26th January Hadyn Bernau delivered the last sermon for a series from the book of Ruth titled 'Redeemed!' from Ruth 4.
Watch the sermon here.
The beautiful redemption story of Boaz, Ruth and Naomi, points us to the ultimate redemption story of Jesus and His people. The first half of Ruth 4 focuses on Boaz as redeemer, and his redemption of Ruth. The second half presents three examples of heartfelt thanksgiving and worship of the Lord and his sovereign gracious redeeming hand, from the people and elders at the gate, the women of the Bethlehem and the author of Ruth.
Beholding Jesus’ glorious redemption of His people leads to heartfelt thanksgiving and worship.
Boaz redeems in grace (vv1-10)
People respond in thanksgiving (vv11-22)

On Sunday, 19th January Joshua Lyddy delivered the third sermon for the year on a series from the book of Ruth titled 'A Noble Request or a Risky Plan' from Ruth 3.
Watch the sermon here.
In Ruth 3 the exciting story of Naomi’s restoration continues. This chapter tells the story of a daring plan that Naomi has conceived for her daughter in law Ruth to find a new husband (what the book calls ‘rest’). Ruth courageously followed through with the plan, but she goes above and beyond by not only asking Boaz to marry her, but also to act as a redeemer for Naomi. By doing this she demonstrates (again) an example of the covenant love of God. We are all like Naomi and Ruth, desperately in need of someone to save us from the straits we are in. For these faithful widows, that someone is Boaz, but for us that person is the Lord Jesus who paid a great price to redeem us from our sin.
A Risky Plan (3:1-5)
A Midnight Encounter (3:6-9)
The redeemer responds (3:10-15)
The wait begins (3:16-18)

On Sunday, 15 December Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'Faith Completely Surrendered' from Genesis 22:1-19.
God tested Abraham by commanding him to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac, the heir of the promise, in the land of Moriah. Abraham obeyed immediately and completely but was restrained by the angel of the Lord at the last moment from sacrificing Isaac, and a ram was provided by the Lord as a substitute sacrifice of worship. There the Lord swore to bless him, which prompted the patriarch to commemorate the place of sacrifice as “the Lord will provide.” In this study we learn that those who fear God will obediently surrender to God all that He asks as they trust in His promises of provision and blessing.
God tests our faith by asking us to surrender our best (vv. 1-2)
God provides all that we need to obey Him completely (vv. 11-14)
God rewards our complete surrender by lavishly blessing us (vv. 15-19)

On Sunday, 8 December Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'How to Honour God in the Ordinary' from Genesis 21:22-34.
Sometime after the birth of Isaac and the casting out of Ishmael, king Abimelech visited Abraham. There Abimelech acknowledged the blessing of God upon Abraham’s life and sought to make a peace treaty with Abraham, thereby enabling Abraham to serve God in the Land of Promise while protecting Abimelech’s dynasty. The two men covenanted together, and Abraham planted a tamarisk tree as a reminder of God’s covenant protection. In this study we learn that we must honour God in the ordinary activities of life by being honest, peaceable and worshipful.
We must honour God because the world is watching (v. 22)
We must honour God by dealing honestly (vv. 23-24)
We must honour God by striving for peace (vv. 25-32)
We must honour God by always recognising Him as the giver of all blessings (vv. 33-34)

When the Lord fulfilled his Word by providing Isaac, the child of promise, Abraham and Sarah responded with joyful obedience and praise. However, Ishmael became a threat to the promised heir, prompting his expulsion into the wilderness, where God provided for him and his mother.
