Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus answered that we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind, and love our neighbours as ourselves. As Christians, we are called to live in community with one another, reflecting Christ’s love and generosity. Yet developing authentic, Gospel-centred relationships where we can grow in faith, share our burdens and encourage each other in the truth can be a challenge. So what does it mean to love our neighbour as ourselves? Come along as we explore the heart of biblical hospitality and discover how to live out the Gospel in our relationships with others - but you won’t need a big house, an extroverted personality, lots of free time, or culinary expertise! Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with Christ for years, join us as we uncover practical tools and spiritual insights to deepen your relationships, grow in spiritual maturity and experience the transformative power of God’s love in fellowship.

How does the gospel relate to the work you do every day of the week? Work is a fundamental part of our lives, but for some of us, it can feel like a burden, a source of stress, or something that’s unspiritual. For others, overworking is a constant temptation, and there never seems to be enough time. For either group, it's easy to forget the role work plays in God’s plan for the universe. Work is part of God’s story, and the gospel transforms our work. Through Jesus Christ, we need to learn to see our daily tasks as part of God's redemptive plan, where our work can be a way to worship God and love others. In this class, we’ll explore how the gospel shapes our understanding of work. Topics will include a biblical theology of work, as well as practical matters like gospel motivations for work, balancing work and rest, and how to think about evangelism in the workplace.

On Sunday, 2nd February Pastor Craig Baxter was back with the the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' and delivered 'Faithfulness in the hand of Providence' Genesis 24.
Watch the sermon here.
In a masterful, romantic tale, akin to the story of Ruth and Boaz, as his final prescribed act, Abraham entrusted his faithful servant with the responsibility of finding a bride for Isaac his son from his country and from among his kindred. Trusting in the Lord’s covenantal faithfulness to prosper his way, the servant faithfully and resolutely carried out his task under the providential guidance of the Lord. In the end the Lord answered the prayers of the servant and provided Rebekah to be Isaac’s wife. In this study we learn that God’s faithful, obedient servants can trust in God’s leading to give them guidance and success in fulfilling God’s purposes.
Believers must be absolutely committed to God’s will (vv. 1-7)
Believers can be totally confident in God’s power to achieve His will (vv. 8-9)
Believers must plead with God to reveal His will (vv. 10-27)
Believers should seek the affirmation of others to discern God’s will (vv. 28-55)
Believers must promptly submit to God’s will (vv. 54-60)
Believers can be assured that the Lord will complete His purposes through our faithfulness (vv. 60-67)
