Hills Bible Church
We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

On Sunday, 5 November, Pastor Andrew Edmonds delivered 'Life Saving 101' from Luke 5:7-25.
The mission of Jesus is to seek and to save that which is lost (Luke 19:10). Jesus is the Life Saver, so our mission is to join with Jesus and introduce people to the One who can save them! But sometimes the Church forgets it’s job description, and as Christians we can become so used to what it is like having the blessings of being Church that we forget what it is like to be a non-believer. We need to be refreshed in the objective by learning from Jesus and other life savers.
Main lesson: By overcoming the physical and spiritual barriers in our mission we can be life savers that help people to be introduced to Jesus. Jesus is a life saver and the mission of His Church is to join with Him in that mission.
Introduction: “Life Savers Get a ‘Hole’ lot more out of life!”
Luke 15
Luke 19:10
The mission of Jesus overcomes physical barriers (Luke 5:17-19)
The mission of Jesus overcomes spiritual barriers (Luke 5:20-25)
The mission of Jesus is extraordinary (Luke 5:26)

Jesus was a master storyteller, and the parables He told were ingeniously simple word pictures with profound spiritual lessons. Understanding the parables is crucial for every follower of Jesus. He told parables so His people might comprehend clearly His message about the kingdom of God. But do not be fooled; parables serve as beacons of truth to the seekers but remain unclear riddles to those whose hearts are already dull. Join us as we investigate the nature of parables and explore the rich truths revealed in them about who Jesus is and what He came to achieve. This series will yield meaningful results for yourself and others: for yourself as you ponder and apply their teaching, for others as you use these lessons in home devotions, children’s Sunday School or wherever the truth should be proclaimed.

On Sunday, 29 October, Pastor Craig Baxter delivers 'Sola Fida: The Rediscovered Treasure of the Reformation' from Romans 3:19-31 to mark Reformation Sunday before commencing the upcoming series in Genesis.
The Reformation is one of those key events in history that changes the course of history forever. Prior to the Reformation the Bible had been cloistered within the church, kept from the laity, and replaced by church dogma and papal authority. As a result the free gospel of salvation was lost and replaced by a blend of faith and works. From this vacuum Martin Luther rediscovered the authority of Scripture which led to the rediscovery of Sola Fida, justification by faith alone. In this study we learn that sinners are made right with God through faith in Christ and His finished work alone, leading to humility, unity and obedience.
Every person has wilfully rebelled against God (Rom 3:9-18)
No one is justified by law keeping (Rom 3:19-20)
God provides the righteousness we need through Christ (Rom 3:21-26)

On Sunday, 15 October, Pastor Craig Baxter concludes the series 'Unsearchable Riches of Christ' with 'Final word: Love God, Love each other' from the final verses of Ephesians - Chapter 6:21-24.
Love is and has always been the defining virtue of the people of God. God’s people have been loved much and therefore love much. It is for this reason that, as we close up Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians, “love incorruptible” is the sounding note that we are left with and which has reverberated throughout his letter. Paul held that the love of Christ received by the believer through salvation (Eph 1:4-5; 2:4-5; 5:25) is a love he earnestly prayed that we would understand (3:17-19) and embody in the community of believers (5:2). In this study we learn that God’s purpose for Hills Bible Church is that we would endure in our love for God, seen in our practical and prayerful love for each other.
1) Love Practically (vv. 21-22)
2) Love Prayerfully (vv. 23-24)

On Sunday, 8 October, Pastor Craig Baxter returns to the series 'Unsearchable Riches of Christ' with 'We are at War: Be Praying' from Ephesians 6:18-20.
As we close out our study on spiritual warfare it is no coincidence that the Apostle Paul moves seamlessly from being strong in the Lord by putting on the armour of God to praying, because these two elements belong to and are dependent upon each other. Prayer is the means by which the Christian is enabled to appropriate the armour and wield the sword. No matter how strong or talented we may think we are, we cannot stand against the power of evil’s forces otherwise. We must know that a life of dependence on God in prayer is essential if we are to effectively stand firm in warfare and deploy all our spiritual weapons.
Continual prayer (v. 18a)
Spirit-directed prayer (v. 18b)
Varied prayer (v. 18c)
Persevering prayer (v. 18d)
Intercessory prayer (vv. 18e-20)

On Sunday, 1 October, Pastor Craig Baxter returns to the series 'Unsearchable Riches of Christ' with 'We are at War: Be Armed (part 3)' from Ephesians 6:17b.
Living a life pleasing to the Lord and engaging in the mission of the church is not easy because there are powerful supernatural beings that strategise and attack. Because of this, God makes available His power and divine resources to believers so they can resist the assaults of these hostile spirits and advance God’s kingdom into the world. Believers are therefore called to be strong in the Lord and His power and put on six indispensable pieces of God’s armour. In this lesson we learn that Christians are to stand firm by taking up the Sword of the Spirit to defend themselves against the devil’s attacks and to advance the gospel against the strongholds of darkness.
The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God
The sword of the Spirit must be wielded
The sword of the Spirit must be mastered
