Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

Lesson 2: Four Pillars of the Gospel (13 October)

Monday Oct 14, 2024

Much can go wrong inside a family – and much often does! As parents, we fail in many ways to love, teach and discipline our children. Children fail in many ways to love, obey and honour their parents. These failings can lead to much heartache, conflict and discouragement for the whole family. But our heavenly Father paints us a beautiful picture in His Word of what a Godly family looks like. And He gives us His Holy Spirit to transform us and our families towards that picture, as we seek to honour Him. Jesus Christ came to show us His Father and His perfect love for His children.
Parents and future parents, this class is for you. Come and admire our Father’s portrait of a Godly family and be equipped to imitate that portrait in your family. Topics will include God’s purpose for the family, worship, the heart, obedience, discipline, gender roles and technology.

Lesson 2: Family Worship (13 October)

Monday Oct 14, 2024

On Sunday, 13 October Pastor Craig Baxter delivered 'The Diakonos' from 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
Despite all Christians being servants of each other, the problem can arise that everybody’s business can easily become nobody’s business. Therefore, God, in His divine wisdom, has appointed particular people to the office of deacon to ensure that the needs of the church are met. The office of deacon has been understood by churches throughout Christendom to mean many things. While the qualifications are quite clearly laid out (1 Tim 3:8-13), the functionality of the deacon is not as evident. In this study we learn that while all Christians must exemplify God’s heart as servant (diakonos), God has ordained “official” servants to help care for and nurture the church.
Christ is a diakonos (servant) to all Christians
All Christian’s are to be a diakonos (servant) of others
Some serve in an “official” capacity as a diakonos (Deacon)

On Sunday, 6 October Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'Judge of all the Earth' from Genesis 18:16-33.
After contemplating the reasons for telling Abraham of his plans for Sodom, the Lord announced that He was about to investigate the wickedness of Sodom that cried out for judgement. This announcement then prompted Abraham to intercede for the city for the sake of the righteous. Through his intercession Abraham made his appeal based on the fact that God is judge of all the earth and is just in all his judgements. In this lesson we learn that God’s people are called to influence the world for Christ while trusting that He will always be righteous in His judgements and will never destroy the righteous with the wicked.
The judge of all the earth reveals His plan to the righteous (vv. 16-19)
The judge of all the earth hears the cries of injustice (vv. 20-21)
The judge of all the earth receives the appeals of His people (vv. 22-33)

Lesson 1: Purpose and Motivation for Evangelism (6 October)

Friday Oct 04, 2024

“The most portentous [significant] fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.” ~ A.W. Tozer. What the individual or nation thinks about God shapes everything about them. So what do YOU think of God? Beyond doctrines, what do you, in your deep heart, conceive God to be like? Many struggle with His seemingly severe rule over man, especially as seen in the Old Testament. In this class, we’ll study God’s Old Testament kingly rule over the nations by means of His laws, judgements, dealings with and expectations of His people and the nations. Our hope is that as we explore the character of God through His rule, you will love and long for the past, present and future kingly rule of God.

Lesson 8 - The King & The Gentile Nations (15 September)

Tuesday Oct 01, 2024

On Sunday, 29 September Simon Kepert delivered 'Treasures in Jars of Clay' from 2 Corinthians 4:6-15.
In this passage, Paul uses a vivid illustration – that despite being ordinary jars of clay, we contain an unimaginably precious treasure: the gospel of Jesus Christ. He gives us assurance that even when ‘cracks’ appear in our life, God will not let us be destroyed. For even as we carry the death of Jesus in our bodies, we also are united with Him in His life.
The light of the knowledge of Christ is within us, as treasure in jars of clay, and manifested by the way we carry the life and death of Jesus.
Treasure in Jars of Clay (vv. 6-7)
Cracks in the Jar (vv. 8-12)
Jars Believing, Speaking, and Knowing (vv. 13-14)
Jars of Clay to the Glory of God (v. 15)

Monday Sep 23, 2024

On Sunday, 22 September Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'God of the Impossible' from Genesis 18:1-15.
Is anything too hard for the Lord for God’s covenant people? This is the question we are forced to ask from this study. In a second theophany the Lord visited Abraham, along with two angels. After sharing a meal prepared by the household of Abraham, the Lord announced the fulfillment of the promise, declaring, in rebuke of Sarah’s laughter, that nothing is too hard for the Lord. In this study we learn that God magnifies Himself by doing the impossible for His covenant children who believe.
God is magnified through covenant relationship (vv. 1-8)
God is magnified when His covenant people belief Him to perform His seemingly impossible promises (vv. 9-15)
