Hills Bible Church

We are a church family that consists of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Hills Bible Church was formed in 2009 and moved to its current location in 2013. It is our mission to see believers: KNOW God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15) LIVE by God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22 – 2:3) COMMIT to God’s work (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT God’s world (Matthew 28:18-20) Our mission is to produce faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn make disciples (Matt 4:19, 28:18-20). This is articulated in the following vision statement: “HBC exists to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ in our local communities and to the least reached peoples of the earth.”

On Sunday, 3 December, Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'Enter Christ's Rest' from Genesis 2:1-3. After six days of forming and filling and creating the heavens and the earth God ceased from His work, having completed it, and found satisfaction in it. As a result God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, set apart for Him. The significance of the seventh day regained prominence as later God commanded the newly established nation of Israel to keep it holy for Him as a sign of His covenant with them. It also acted as a shadow of the spiritual rest that Christ later came to deliver to all people. In this study we learn that because Christ worked to save us, we do not need to work to save ourselves, but can enter His perfect rest to know God and enjoy Him forever by faith.
God’s Rest (Gen 2:1-3)
Israel’s Rest (Exodus 31:12-17; Deut 5:12-15)
Christ’s Rest (Heb 4:1-11; Matt 11:29-30)

On Sunday, 26 November, Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'Image is Everything' from Genesis 1:26-31.
Why did God create people? This is perhaps one of the greatest questions derived in the mind of man and has to deal with the idea of purpose. It is this question that our text for this study answers. We have noted that God created the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them, over six days. But on the sixth day something dramatically changed: God made man in His own image and addressed him, giving him certain commands to follow. In this lesson we learn that as image bearers of God we are called to spread God’s glory through all the earth by bearing godly children and stewarding God’s world.
We were created to reflect God’s image (vv. 26-27)
We were created to raise Godly children (v. 28a)
We were created to steward God’s creation (vv. 28b-31)

Thursday Nov 23, 2023

On Sunday, 19 November, Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'God our Creator' from Genesis 1:3-25.
There is perhaps no portion of Scripture that has exacted more attack over the last 200 years than Genesis 1-3, particularly with regards to the origins of the universe. While it is widely accepted that the universe began by some random chance event and developed through the process of natural selection, the Bible tells us otherwise. In our study we see that the one true God purposefully and powerfully formed and filled the earth in six consecutive 24-hour days, which reflects redemptive work. In this message we learn that creation displays a powerful, purposeful and personal God who came in Christ to recreate a people for Himself.
- Creation as Historical
- Creation as Theological and Christological
God creates by the Word
God has dominion over His creation
God seeks good for His creation
God is personal
God cares for His people
