The Diakonos | 1 Timothy 3:8-13

On Sunday, 13 October Pastor Craig Baxter delivered 'The Diakonos' from 1 Timothy 3:8-13.

Despite all Christians being servants of each other, the problem can arise that everybody’s business can easily become nobody’s business. Therefore, God, in His divine wisdom, has appointed particular people to the office of deacon to ensure that the needs of the church are met. The office of deacon has been understood by churches throughout Christendom to mean many things. While the qualifications are quite clearly laid out (1 Tim 3:8-13), the functionality of the deacon is not as evident. In this study we learn that while all Christians must exemplify God’s heart as servant (diakonos), God has ordained “official” servants to help care for and nurture the church.

1. Christ is a diakonos (servant) to all Christians
2. All Christian’s are to be a diakonos (servant) of others
3. Some serve in an “official” capacity as a diakonos (Deacon)
