How to Honour God in the Ordinary | Genesis 21:22-34
On Sunday, 8 December Pastor Craig Baxter continued the series 'Genesis: God's Unveiling Plan of Redemption and Blessing' with 'How to Honour God in the Ordinary' from Genesis 21:22-34.
Sometime after the birth of Isaac and the casting out of Ishmael, king Abimelech visited Abraham. There Abimelech acknowledged the blessing of God upon Abraham’s life and sought to make a peace treaty with Abraham, thereby enabling Abraham to serve God in the Land of Promise while protecting Abimelech’s dynasty. The two men covenanted together, and Abraham planted a tamarisk tree as a reminder of God’s covenant protection. In this study we learn that we must honour God in the ordinary activities of life by being honest, peaceable and worshipful.
- We must honour God because the world is watching (v. 22)
- We must honour God by dealing honestly (vv. 23-24)
- We must honour God by striving for peace (vv. 25-32)
- We must honour God by always recognising Him as the giver of all blessings (vv. 33-34)
